Advance Shipping Notice Transactions

Based on the Accredited Standards Committee (ASC) X12 format, the 660 can be used in two situations. 1) to notify carriers of vehicle shipments prior to plant release, and 2) inform carriers of vehicles that will be moving over a special, authorized route. In general, the first situation is to be used by the carrier for advance planning only, where as the s/a shipping notice can be considered an electronic s/a bill of lading.
