Overview

Voluntary Interindustry Commerce Standards Association

VICS EDI is the Voluntary Inter-Industry Commerce Standard which is used by the general merchandise retail industry. It is a subset of the ANSI ASC X12 national standard.

The VICS EDI Standards Maintenance Committee was formed in late 1986 with the objective of identifying and maintaining a common interpretation by the Retail Industry of the Electronic Data Interchange Standards through the cooperative efforts of representatives from retailing, manufacturing and other suppliers-to-retail, under the umbrella of the Uniform Code Council.

VICS EDI is being utilized by thousands of companies - department and specialty retail stores, mass merchandisers and their suppliers
